ABOUT ME

MY APPROACH, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

How do I work with you?

I understand people can feel nervous about contacting a counsellor, so my approach is warm and relaxed, and I do my best to help you feel at ease. My aim is to build a therapeutic relationship where you can feel able to bring all your thoughts, feelings and worries whether they are from the past present or future.

You are the expert on you, so I listen carefully so that I can understand what is going on for you, what you would like to be different, and what might be getting in the way of that.  I work with you to deepen your understanding of yourself and explore why you think and feel the way you do, and together we can find ways to make positive changes and improvements to your life.

I work integratively which means I am trained in several types of counselling including Person Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt. This means I can blend elements of different counselling approaches in my work to best suit your needs and preferences.

Where appropriate I may suggest practical tools to manage stress and help reduce symptoms such as panic attacks or suggest ways to help lift the low mood often experienced in depression. Understanding the mind body link in mental health and teaching the brain an alternative way of dealing with issues can be key in taking back control and being able to live our best lives.

I work with a wide range of client issues and my areas of specialism are:
